This was precisely why we chose to go the two language route at home as I didn't want a language barrier between Maya and my family in the US. Now that your sons language skills are better you could try to introduce him to Spanish.

Thanks for reading and commenting.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13923923651866941447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5637825423345320835.post-60828011419873427212012-02-12T14:37:15.247+01:002012-02-12T14:37:15.247+01:00This was lovely to read...I teach Icelandic for fo...This was lovely to read...I teach Icelandic for foreigners and well have a son with autism... language is all I think about.Þorgerðurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17781828071173057186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5637825423345320835.post-9161851462047075472012-02-10T13:14:04.121+01:002012-02-10T13:14:04.121+01:00Thank you for this post. To help my son get understood in school, I stopped speaking Spanish and kept up with English. He has emergent language now. My daughter I usually speak to in Spanish, but if I'm speaking with both of them I confuse myself and speak in the wrong language to the wrong one. I hope to speak more Spanish to my son now that he is able to express his needs and desires a little more, I would *love* for him to be bilingual. My family in Mexico is such a *huge* part of my life, I would hate for him not to be able to interact with his cousins and everyone. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
